Letter to the editor:
Palin sorely lacking in areas that matter

Regarding Dave Mesker’s Oct. 6 letter, headlined “Biden suffered knockout in debate”:
Mr. Mesker must have watched a different vice presidential debate from the one I did. What I saw was a somewhat good-looking, intelligence-challenged governor of one of the least populated states desperately trying to compete with a smart, articulate, seasoned Senate veteran by refusing to answer direct questions from the moderator, saying little of substance and relying on repeated GOP talking points to get through the debate without showing her complete lack of knowledge about the important issues of the day.
Sarah Palin may have won on superficial “style points” with her phony “woman on the street” rhetoric and slang, but Joe Biden won on the things that really matter — the issues — and won big!
Some voters vote on superficial things such as “she is just like me.” Well, I want someone in there who is quite a bit smarter and more experienced than I am because leading a country of 300 million people is not tiddlywinks, and all the cute colloquialisms and “common woman” rhetoric will not help where the “rubber meets the road.”
Some compare Palin to Dan Quayle, the senior Bush’s vice president, saying he was much maligned but did OK. All I can say about that is Quayle was never in a position where he had to make important or life-or-death decisions. If McCain-Palin wins, I will pray every day for the continued good health and accident-free existence of John McCain!

Biden was really "smart" in the debate....LOL
Here are two "smart" things he said.
Mr. "Smart" Biden said: "When we kicked -- along with France -- we kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon"
Somebody needs to update Mr. "Smart" Biden. Hezbollah still has a very strong and dominating presence in Lebanon and the US has not been in Lebanon since Reagen. I am not sure what he means by "we".
Mr. "Smart" Biden stated that Obama never said he would sit down with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The problem with that is many internet videos showing Obama said that. (http://vodpod.com/watch/894757-obama-wit......)
Also Obama's website says: "Obama supports tough, direct presidential diplomacy with Iran without preconditions."
Lastly, Mr. "Smart" Biden in 2007 in the National Press Club attacking Obama's no precondition statement by saying: "Would I make a blanket commitment to meet unconditionally with the leaders of each of those countries within the first year I was elected president? Absolutely, positively, no."
Mr. "Smart" Biden was either speaking lies in 2007 or speaking lies in the VP debate. It is one or the other.
P.S. Mr "Smart" Biden once said that Obama was not qualified to be president.
Olivier's back, and in top form! Where have you been?
Can you imagine how the rest of the world would see us if Palin ended up as president? It's bad enough now, but America would turn into the laughingstock of the planet.
