flashpoint:
A few goofy, outrageous things
Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008 | 2 a.m.
I have seen a lot of goofy, outrageous things in the mail so far this season — and I’d guess the goofiest, most outrageous stuff is yet to come. But the state Democratic Party, already setting the bar high (low?) with that stuff against state Sens. Joe Heck and Bob Beers, now is accusing GOP Assembly candidate Donna Toussaint of opposing a kids health care program — even though she has no record of saying anything about it or voting on it, given she has never held elective office. The mail piece declares, “Donna Toussaint doesn’t seem to care,” but offers no proof she has ever said anything about it. And there’s a reason for that: There isn’t any. But she is a Republican and “she wants to help an agenda that includes saying ‘No’ ...” This year, that’s enough.
