FLASHPOINT:
Prepare for storm of propaganda
Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 | 2:01 a.m.
You may think that there are only 22 days until the election. But you are wrong — there are six. That’s right — early voting begins Saturday, so tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of Nevadans can dispense with their most important right and refuse to pay attention for the final two-plus weeks of the campaign. Such a deal! If the past is prologue here, more than half the electorate will have voted before Election Day. The candidates know that, so this is what that means: For the next six days, you will be bombarded by more propaganda than you have seen in the previous month. You won’t be able to change the channel any day without seeing an ad; your mailboxes will be stuffed. And it all begins — or, for some, ends — Saturday.
