ECONOMY:
Gas prices fall below $3.30 in Las Vegas
Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 | 7:39 a.m.
Gas prices have dropped nearly a dollar from record highs set earlier this year in Las Vegas.
Auto club AAA reported this morning that motorists in the valley are paying an average of $3.298 a gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. That's down from the record of $4.279 set on June 21.
The average price of a gallon of gas has plunged more than 33 cents in Las Vegas in the past month, AAA reported.
Local gas prices spent weeks below the national average after prices in the South surged when refineries shut down following Hurricane Ike. As those refineries have come back, prices in some states have fallen more rapidly than in Nevada, helping to bring the national average down to $3.206 a gallon.
Las Vegas gas prices are nearly 9 cents below the Nevada average, which stood at $3.383 a gallon this morning. Drivers in the valley were paying an average of $2.81 for gas a year ago.
Average gas prices have fallen below the $3 mark in several states. Oklahoma has the nation's cheapest gas today, at $2.747 a gallon.

We don't have more energy, just less expected demand as our economy is in ruin from the high cost of energy. If the economy starts to improve, the price will rise again and choke it off. We need American Energy for American Jobs NOW. Contact Harry Reid and tell him to quit taking orders from Nancy Pelosi. He is suppose to represent Nevada, not San Fransisco. Tell harry to drill and build now.
