A man has died after being shot early Sunday morning near downtown Las Vegas.
Metro Police officers responded at about 1:35 a.m. Sunday to a 911 report of a man shot at a business at the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and 17th Street. When officers and medical personnel arrived, they discovered a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
The man, a 22-year-old resident of the area, was transported to University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries, police said.
Authorities said the man was with family members when he was approached by three men, described as between 18 and 26 years of age. One or more of the men fired shots at the victim, police said.
They then left the scene northbound on 17th Street and headed toward Lewis Avenue, where they got into a dark-colored vehicle, which might have been an SUV, police said. The vehicle left the area westbound on Lewis Avenue.
The motive for the shooting is unknown. The victim's identity is being withheld pending identification and notification of his family.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call homicide detectives at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
