2008 ELECTION:
Last day to register to vote is Tuesday
Election office to be open through weekend
Fri, Oct 10, 2008 (12:01 p.m.)
If you're not registered to vote yet, you still have a few more days — eligible people can sign up through 9 p.m. Tuesday at a county election office.
And if you registered at one of the many registration drives that were taking place during the last month, make sure they turned in your paperwork.
"If you are not sure if you are registered to vote in Clark County, we urge you to verify your voter registration status now," Larry Lomax, the county's registrar of voters said in a prepared statement today. "This is especially important if you didn't come to the Election Department to register to vote, but relied on an outside organization to submit your voter registration application to us. Every election year some people discover that their application was not submitted as it should have been. By checking their voter registration now, those people still have time to register to vote if necessary.”
To check your registration, you can either call 455-VOTE (8683) or go to the Election Department's Web site at http://www.accessclarkcounty.com/elections.
If you still need to register, you can do so from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, including Saturday and Sunday, in person at the Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway in Las Vegas, or at the Clark County Election Center, 965 Trade Drive Suite A in North Las Vegas.
The early voting period for the Nov. 4 election runs from Oct. 18 through Oct. 31. See a list of the 88 locations available for early voting.
If you need to vote by mail, you have until Oct. 28 to submit a mail ballot. For more information, visit the Election Department Web site.
