Letter to the editor:
U.S. needs smart, capable leaders
Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008 | 2:02 a.m.
An important lesson from the Joe Biden-Sarah Palin debate is gaining popularity.
“Folksiness” isn’t the trait most of us are looking for in our leaders. We’re not looking for some hockey mom/Joe Six-Pack to have a beer with. Americans elected that guy last time, and look what happened.
Stop the “dumbing down” of America. We need the smartest, most innovative, most capable people available — those who can think, not just memorize slogans and talking points.
Palin “held her own” last Thursday because the expectations of her were so low. She avoided hard questions, contradicted herself, made up facts, and winked and flirted with the audience.
Anyone who, for purely political reasons, would risk turning our government over to such a person is not “putting country first,” but jeopardizing our future.

Biden was really "smart" in the debate....LOL
Here are two "smart" things he said.
Mr. "Smart" Biden said: "When we kicked -- along with France -- we kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon"
Somebody needs to update Mr. "Smart" Biden. Hezbollah still has a very strong and dominating presence in Lebanon and the US has not been in Lebanon since Reagen. I am not sure what he means by "we".
Mr. "Smart" Biden stated that Obama never said he would sit down with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The problem with that is many internet videos showing Obama said that. (http://vodpod.com/watch/894757-obama-wit...)
Also Obama's website says: "Obama supports tough, direct presidential diplomacy with Iran without preconditions."
Lastly, Mr. "Smart" Biden in 2007 in the National Press Club attacking Obama's no precondition statement by saying: "Would I make a blanket commitment to meet unconditionally with the leaders of each of those countries within the first year I was elected president? Absolutely, positively, no."
Mr. "Smart" Biden was either speaking lies in 2007 or speaking lies in the VP debate. It is one or the other.
P.S. Mr "Smart" Biden once said that Obama was not qualified to be president.
Also, I guess Mr. "Smart" Biden forgot about his speech before he voted to authorized Bush to attack Iraq.
I guess Mr. "Smart" Biden does not understand his words of "justify the President taking action" ....like military attack action.
"The point about whether or not there needs to be an imminent threat to justify the President taking action is what is at stake. I am of the school that suggests the President need not, if the underlying amendment passes, have to show there is an imminent threat. He is enforcing a peace agreement in effect. He is enforcing, not preempting. And he is not responding to imminent threat."
"What we have here, I argue, as the rationale for going after Saddam, is that he signed a cease-fire agreement. The condition for his continuing in power was the elimination of his weapons of mass destruction, and the permission to have inspectors in to make sure he had eliminated them. He expelled those inspectors. So he violated the cease-fire; ergo, we have authority--not under a doctrine of preemption. This will not be a preemptive strike, if we go with the rest of the world. It will be an enforcement strike."
"The reason I oppose the amendment of my friend from Michigan is because the basic premise upon which I began is consistent with where my friend from Connecticut began, and that is the threat need not be imminent for us to take action. That is because we would be enforcing Security Council resolutions. That is authority we are about to delegate to the President."
"The bottom line was, the Senator from Arizona and I felt strongly we had to go. We had to move. Were the Serbs an imminent threat to the United States of America? No. Was it a threat to our security interests? Yes. The stabilization of southeastern Europe. And so I think part of the thing that confuses people here--anyone listening to the debate, myself included, as part of the debate--is this notion of the place from which you began."
Obama refuses to release his records from Columbia. He only wrote like two sentences on time at Columbia in his auto-bio.
What is Obama hiding?
I think values and an understanding of mainstream
or main street america exceeds all.
You cannot believe that IQ or a law degree would be more important than actual experience?
I know a lot of people who are extremely intelligent that do not lead, communicate or function well at all in our society.
Ted Kaczynski had high IQ, so did Ted Bundy,
and John Hinckley.
I would vote for a dumb honest person before I would vote for a brilliant liar.
the Glenn Beck show on CNN ran this last night. Worth a minute of your time.

Yes he is hiding something.
I guess you do not understand that by not releasing his records that is hiding.
McCain has let reporters see his health records.
Obama should let reporters see his records from Columbia.
What is the big deal?
I would be OK if Obama let a select few reporters to "view" his Columbia records.
McCain allowed that for his health records.
What is Obama trying so hard to hide?
Quotes by McCain confirming he is an idiot;
"It's easy for me to go to Washington and, frankly, be somewhat divorced from the day-to-day challenges people have." --speaking at the ServiceNation forum in New York, Sept. 11, 2008
"I have not had a chance to see it in writing, so I have to examine it.'" --on the Bush administration's Wall Street bailout plan, which was a three-page document that McCain said he received the day before, interview with WKYC in Cleveland, Sept. 23, 2008

"Honestly, I have to analyze our relationships, situations and priorities, but I can assure you that I will establish closer relationships with our friends, and I will stand up to those who want to harm the United States. ... I have a clear record of working with leaders in the hemisphere that are friends with us and standing up to those who are not. And that's judged on the basis of the importance of our relationship with Latin America and the entire region." --after being asked if he would invite Spanish President Jose Rodriguez Louis Zapatero to the White House, casting an ally of the U.S. as a potential enemy while simultaneously confusing Spain for a Latin American country, interview with Radio Caracol Miami, Sept. 17, 2008
More quotes confiming McCain is an idiot;
"I understand the economy. "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you c*nt." -to his wife, Cindy, after she playfully twirled his hair and said "You're getting a little thin up there," as reported in the book The Real McCain by Cliff Schecter
I see Nance, the conspiracy theorist, now thinks Obama's COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS are going to make or break his election?!?!?
LOL!
Poor guy, with Obama's presidency imminent, he's got nothing left!
Fortunately, Tokaloshe, this time we can choose an honest and extremely intelligent man, a person of integrity who truly cares about this country as a country, rather than as his and his pals' private country club.
