Carey celebrates Cannon’s birthday bash

Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008 | 1:35 p.m.

Pop's reigning royal showbiz couple, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, were still rocking early this morning at PURE nightclub in Caesars Palace. Luxe Life has the first red-carpet arrivals of the happy twosome from our through-the night photographers Scott Doctor and Erik Kabik.

Nick, an actor and comedian, celebrated his birthday at the chic nightspot -- and also jumped on the “wheels of steel” to twist the turntables as guest DJ for part of the night. His party capped a five-day visit to Vegas which began with Mariah's own festive party at the rival Bank nightclub in the Bellagio over the weekend.

The couple, who were secretly married after a speedy romance earlier this year at the superstar singer's oceanfront mansion in the Bahamas, held hands for most of the night. "They are totally in love" one of my spies telegraphed me this morning. "They can't keep their hands and arms off each other."

Nick was previously romantically involved with reality star and fallen Dancing with the Stars contestant Kim Kardashian -- and they filmed several episodes of her Keeping Up with the Kardashians series here together in Vegas. Kim, whose godfather is now-jailed OJ Simpson, is currently dating New Orleans football player Reggie Bush after a fling with singer Ray J that resulted in her being paid $5 million by Vivid Pictures as a settlement over a scandalous leaked sex-tape.

With Pure nightclub packed with excited fans Mariah and Nick stepped into the spotlight shortly after midnight. They took over a luxurious white-leather VIP bed alongside the DJ booth on the club's main VIP stage.

Almost immediately Nick jumped on the turntables, grabbed the mic and thanked everybody for coming out to help him celebrate the special birthday night extravaganza. He spun a stellar soundtrack of hits with wife Mariah right by his side, Then she helped present him - sans Vegas Pussycat Dolls - with a three-tiered, orange-flamed birthday cake as revelers cheered them on.

Maria chatted with Nick's mom and other friends at their nearby table where they shared glasses of Pinot Grigio white wine. She danced and sang along to Nick's mix of club anthems and hit songs. Maria hopped in and out of the DJ booth all night long and neither were phased as club-goers watched them nuzzling up, sharing secrets and playfully admiring each other. At 3 a.m. this morning Nick paid tribute to his new wife by mixing a medley of some of Mariah's hottest hits throughout her phenomenal musical career, including “Fantasy,” “It’s Like That” and “I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time.”

Then, the multi-talented singer, who has racked up a mind-boggling 18 No. 1 hit singles in the U.S., and her new mother-in-law joined the birthday boy behind the wheels of steel once more before the happy couple called it a night at 3:30 a.m. Also joining in the birthday excitement were master mystifier Criss Angel, after his Believe preview show at the Luxor and UFC fighter Heath “Texas Crazy Horse” Herring.
