FLASHPOINT:
Northern Nevada gaining prominence
Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 | 2:01 a.m.
I have some dire news to report, fellow Southern Nevadans: If we are not careful, the North may become the center of Nevada’s political universe. Look at all the evidence. Recently, reporters from two of the country’s most influential newspapers — The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times — penned pieces about the presidential race here with northern bylines. County Commissioner Rory Reid, who just might want to be governor, was to spend the weekend in Reno. And Speaker Barbara Buckley, who just might want to be governor, is holding a town hall meeting there today. Washoe County may go Democratic and Reno already has, perhaps making the North decisive. This cannot stand. The South must rise again!
