- Man dies in ATV crash south of Las Vegas (10-5-08)
A 22-year-old man who died Sunday after he lost control of his all-terrain vehicle and it landed on top of him has been identified as Joseph Alton Eckrote of Las Vegas, the Clark County coroner's office said today.
Two target shooters in the desert east of Interstate 15 near Sloan, about 30 miles south of Las Vegas, discovered the crash and called police, Metro Police said.
The officers responded at about 10 a.m. with an emergency medical crew. Police said the ATV rider was thrown from the vehicle, then it landed on top of him.
Paramedics pronounced Eckrote dead at the scene. The accident is still under investigation.
