LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Get rid of those who can’t stop spending
Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 | 2:02 a.m.
The bailout bill passed. Congress has seen fit to burden the American taxpayer with $700 billion of potential debt, yet the bill to save the financial structure of the United States is loaded with pork barrel items that have nothing to do with the problem at hand. Is Congress incapable of writing legislation without having to pay off legislators to vote for it?
Being old, I can remember when the national debt was $2 trillion. Now we are talking about $11.5 trillion. Is there no end to this madness?
All is not lost.
Is it possible to tighten the belt of the bloated spendthrift Congress? The only way to stop this spending is to demand that our elected representatives stop. Stop giving money to every country in the world and stop spending on pork barrel projects such as the Bridge to Nowhere and the Woodstock Hall of Fame. Get rid of all of those who support profligate spending.
It is time the United States announced to the world the treasury is empty, the money is gone and the taxpayer teat is dry!
