FLASHPOINT:
Shifting alliances
Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008 | 2:01 a.m.
If you really want to get confused, try to follow the alliances in the politics of the bailout/rescue plan/stabilization measure. Reps. Shelley Berkley and Dean Heller were together at first, but then they were apart on the final vote. Berkley’s dear friend, Jill Derby, is running against Heller. Derby and Berkley were together at first, but then Berkley went against her friend’s position on the second House vote. Rep. Jon Porter was not with fellow Republican Heller either time — he voted for both bills. Congressional hopeful Dina Titus was against the bill both times, which means she was against the man who crafted it, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who was with Porter. Anyone else have a headache?
