More information
If you haven't registered to vote yet, today is your last day to do so the easy way — at an area mall or by mailing in a form.
After today, you can still register through Oct. 14, but you'll have to go down in person to the county's election department.
Today, voter registration drives for the 2008 general election are being held throughout the Las Vegas area.
Eligible voters can register from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Boulevard Mall, Galleria at Sunset, Las Vegas Outlet Center and Meadows Mall.
You can also pick up a voter registration form with pre-paid postage at any U.S. Postal Service locations and libraries. Those forms must be postmarked and mailed no later than today.
Various organizations, including political parties, are sponsoring voter registration throughout the area. For example, Nevada's Democratic Party volunteers will be at DMV locations, grocery stories and parks around the county.
Volunteers will also be out at Art in the Park festivals at Wilbur, Bicentennial and Escalante Parks from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Shakespeare in the Park, Sonata Park, 1550 Seven Hills Drive, Henderson, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Undefeated (clothing store), 4480 Paradise Rd. #400, Las Vegas, noon to 8 p.m.; Jimmy's Market, 1370 Cheyenne Ave., North Las Vegas, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and the football field at Washington and Buffalo at 11 a.m. today.
If you can't register today and still want to vote in the Nov. 4 election, you can register in person until Tuesday, Oct. 14 at the Clark County Election Department's offices at the Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway, and the Clark County Election Center, 965 Trade Drive, Suite A. Those locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 5; 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 6 through Oct. 9; and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 10 through Oct. 14.
If you think you are already registered, election officials recommend to make sure you are on the county's registration list by checking for your name on the Election Department’s Web site.
Although Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4, about half of Clark County voters in the past have used the early voting option.
Early voting begins Saturday, Oct. 18, and ends Friday, Oct. 31. See a list of the 88 locations available for early voting.
