School to hold second Fall Festival
The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain will hold its second annual Fall Festival on Oct. 11 from noon–4 p.m.
The public is invited to the event, which includes a DJ and dancing, costume contests, a haunted house, a pumpkin patch, a petting zoo, food and a variety of games for kids.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 14 and under. Activity tickets are $1 each, with most activities ranging from two to 10 tickets.
Attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods and nonperishable food items to benefit a food drive for Three Square.
The school is at 10845 West Desert Inn Road, near the intersection of Desert Inn Road and Town Center Drive.
College Fair Plus puts careers in spotlight
The 31st annual College Fair Plus will take place from 8-5 p.m. Oct. 20 and 21 at the Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd.
The fair is open to students in grades 9-12 and will allow high school students to explore post-graduation opportunities and meet representatives from universities, community colleges, technical schools, the military and apprenticeship programs.

Poetry program offers instruction
All Nevada public, private, charter, alternative and home school high schools are invited to participate in the fourth annual Poetry Out Loud program.
The program is sponsored by the Nevada Arts Council.
