Names released in fatal I-15 crash
The identities of two people killed in an early morning collision Sept. 24 on Interstate 15 have been released by the Clark County Coroners Office.
Shane Anthony Hatter, 25, of Henderson, was traveling northbound in a white Infinity in a southbound travel lane on I-15 when his vehicle struck a blue extended-cab Ford pickup truck head on.
The truck was driven by Alley Hassen, 76, of Canada.
Both drivers died from multiple injuries resulting from the crash.
Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Kevin Honea said neither vehicle had any passengers.
The collision occurred around 3:40 a.m. on I-15 just south of Silverado Ranch Boulevard.
Honea said prior to the collision the NHP was alerted to a vehicle driving the wrong way at a high rate of speed.
Investigations to determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision are ongoing.
Metro conducts seatbelt campaign
In a partnership with Joining Forces, Metro Police recently participated in a teen seat belt enforcement campaign.
Between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sept. 19 and Sept. 20, Metro's South Central, Southeast and Bolden area commands conducted enforcement that resulted in 536 total citations/arrests, 95 of which were seat belt related.
The objective of the campaign was to reduce traffic fatalities among teens within the age group of 16 to 20 years old.
The effort was partially funded by a grant from the Nevada Department of Public Safety/Office of Traffic Safety.

Health District offers flu vaccines
The Southern Nevada Health District is well supplied with vaccines to combat influenza and is encouraging everyone to get their shots as the flu season is under way.
The Health District offers the vaccine Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at its five public health centers. The Health District also set up temporary flu shot clinics in public places throughout the valley.
Patients must present their insurance card or Medicaid voucher at the time of service. For those not covered or without proof of insurance, the cost for flu vaccination is $30. Pneumonia shots are $45. The Health District also accepts Medicare Part B, Medicare Railroad Part B and Medicaid.
People with the highest risk of catching the flu are those age 50 and over, pregnant women, people between 6 months old and 49 with certain medical conditions, health care workers and household contacts of people who are at high risk.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also recommends vaccinations for children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years.
To prevent the spread of the virus, avoid close contact with people who are sick, stay home if you are sick, cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze, wash your hands and avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
Flu season generally peaks in January or February in Southern Nevada.
The list of centers and an additional list of flu shot clinics is on the Health District's Web site.
For more information, contact the Health District's immunization clinic at 759-0850 or visit www.SouthernNevadaHealthDistrict.org.
