Man, woman injured in highway shooting

Police are looking for Jason Charles Burkhart, 26, in connection with the shooting of two people in their vehicle this afternoon on U.S. Highway 95 near Decatur Boulevard.

Two people were shot this afternoon while they were driving in the area of U.S. Highway 95 and Decatur Boulevard in Las Vegas, according to Metro Police.

The man and the woman then drove themselves to University Medical Center for treatment, and UMC medical staff reported the shootings about 2 p.m., police said.

Police said the two victims said they were both traveling on U.S. 95 when a vehicle pulled along side them and fired numerous rounds into their vehicle, striking both of them.

Police said the suspect in the shooting was identified as Jason Charles Burkhart, 26, a white male adult who is 6-foot tall, 190 pounds, with red hair and brown eyes. He was driving a four-door maroon sedan with tinted windows, police said.

Police are asking for anyone with information about the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or Metro's Violent Crime Section at 828-1913.
