Letter to the editor:

Don’t look for the McCain you once knew

Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008 | 2:05 a.m.

We keep reading and hearing from various commentators something along the lines of, “What has happened to the John McCain of old? He once had integrity and honor.”

Unfortunately, McCain, in a reckless choice, has as his running mate an individual who, politely said, is inept. This was, indeed, a cynical gimmick on his part to gain control of some news cycles, and this is madness.

He has surrounded himself with lobbyists and ruthless campaign managers. These people admit they do not care what the media think of their unscrupulous doings. Obviously, they must think the American people are unaware of the lying, the secrecy and the deceptions used in promoting the McCain-Palin ticket.

But we are aware. We know that the McCain-Palin duo is just a continuation of the same “cloak and dagger” tactics that were so prevalent during the Bush-Cheney-Rove presidency.

Pitiful it is, and I view it not only with contempt but also with great sadness.
