Wed, Nov 26, 2008 (11:28 a.m.)
Authorities are investigating a crash that left a motorcyclist dead at about 10 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 95 in northwest Las Vegas.
The accident happened near where the highway intersects with Craig Road.
The driver of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was thrown from his bike after clipping the rear of a sport utility vehicle, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Kevin Honea said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told investigators that the SUV was moving from the northbound center lane to the left lane and the motorcycle tried passing the vehicle on the shoulder, Honea said.
The northbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours.
The Clark County Coroner's Office has not released the identity of the motorcyclist pending notification of family.
