Boy, 2, killed in dog attack at his home
Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008 | 8:17 p.m.
A 2-year-old boy was killed in an attack by two dogs at his home Wednesday afternoon in the western Las Vegas Valley.
Police received a call at about 4:30 p.m. from the child’s grandmother, who reported the attack. The child was dead when authorities arrived at the home in the 6200 block of Warm River Road.
That location is northwest of the intersection of Washington Avenue and Jones Boulevard.
Police spokesman Officer Bill Cassell said two mixed-breed terriers attacked the child. After the attack the child’s grandmother, who was babysitting at the time, removed the two dogs and locked them in separate rooms, injuring herself in the process, police said.
A younger sibling also was at the house but wasn’t injured.
“This underscores the fact that no matter how well we think we know our animals, they can retreat back to instinctive behavior,” Cassell said.
The dogs are in the custody of animal control.

Technorati

we get one of these about every 3 weeks. las vegas is now just one big ghetto.
It makes me so sad that people get these horrific animals and then leave them alone with children and grandparents. This story seems to be repeating itself every couple of weeks in this town. People get rid of your killer dogs if you have small children. It's not the criminals that are killing the children, it's the pets.
Nice to see someone who can't form complete sentences or capitolize thinks Las Vegas is a ghetto. By the way, do you know this family or these dogs? I doubt it...
first let me say there is nothing more tragic than a family losing there child the day before thanksgiving so please have a little respect for the family at there time of loss
second let me add they were family dogs with no prior history of attack before this incident
third when they say grand mother you may think of some old and gray senior this is not the case as well in this day and age do you blame the parents for allowing anyone other than close family to look over and care for your children
who watches your children
and yes i fully agree why get on here run your mouth about this family or the events that happened when you have no idea of ither
@ wheat, learn how to spell before you criticize someone. Capitolize??? And yes, there are certain areas that are considered "ghetto" around here.
