Police to enforce seatbelts Sunday
Friday, Nov. 21, 2008 | 4:16 p.m.
Motorists driving in North Las Vegas will need to buckle up their seatbelt or face getting a traffic ticket Sunday.
The North Las Vegas Police Department will conduct a "Click it or Ticket" seatbelt enforcement event from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., the department announced today.
Officers will be saturating high traffic areas along with high crash locations through North Las Vegas, looking for unrestrained vehicle occupants.
"Failing to wear a seatbelt at this time is not a primary violation meaning officers will have to look for a primary infraction to conduct a traffic stop, such as speeding, running red lights, etc.," the department said in its announcement.
"This event is not only to enforce the seatbelt law but to educate drivers and passengers about seatbelt safety," the department said.
