Clark County announced the Lake Mead Boulevard-Beltway interchange opened this morning to traffic.
Construction of the interchange ended in August except for the traffic signals and safety barriers, which crews finished overnight.
The exit and entrance ramps remained closed because of an agreement with residents of Sun City Summerlin who didn’t want the additional traffic on Lake Mead. The ramps were scheduled to open in 2010.
In recent months, the county received numerous requests from area residents to open the $12.4 million interchange as soon as it was safe to do so.
