Letter to the editor:
Losers in Halverson ordeal: Taxpayers
Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008 | 2:02 a.m.
I see that District Judge Elizabeth Halverson has finally received the official “ax” by the Judicial Discipline Commission. Let’s see now, she was suspended from the bench back in July ’07 and it is now November ’08.
Subsequently, Ms. Halverson has collected more than a year’s salary for doing nothing. My question is “Why?” Perhaps we should ax the Judicial Discipline Commission along with Halverson for its ineptness.
The commission let the voters, in the election, do the job it should have done. The wait for this election cost taxpayers more than $130,000. Who got the worst hatchet job? The taxpayers as usual.

Only in government can you be accused of sexual harrassment and get caught sleeping on the job and still collect $130,000 over the course of a year before being fired.
Now, in addition to the taxpayer money that was wasted paying her salary while she sat at home harrassing her husband, she is going to cost us more money by appealing the Judicial Commission's decision. Too bad her husband didn't finish the job he started, would have saved us the costs of potentially doing it all again.
Does that sound a little harsh? Maybe, but I'm sick of Public officials COSTING the taxpayers money because of their actions, inactions, and/or indiscretions.
Rick, you missed something. Her husband is going to cost us now as well. I wonder if she continues to get paid through the appeal process?
Great, so we'll be paying the costs of his trial and incarceration, and her unemployment and whatever other "I can't walk or breathe" benefits she qualifies for. Thanks for the enlightement, I feel so much better now.
Rick: One thing's for certain: she's no daisy!
