A 36-year-old Las Vegas man crouched in the right lane of westbound Tropicana Avenue at U.S. 95 was hit by a blue pickup truck and killed shortly after 5:30 a.m. today, the Nevada Highway Patrol said. Authorities are looking for the driver whose vehicle struck the man.

The westbound lanes of Tropicana Avenue were shut down for about three hours as the highway patrol and Metro Police investigated the crash, Trooper Kevin Honea said.

A witness said told investigators that a blue pickup truck struck the man as he crouched in the travel lane, Honea said. The pickup continued westbound on Tropicana after the collision.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is asking anyone who has information about the incident to call 432-5205. The driver likely is not at fault, Honea said, but troopers want to question the person.
