Local man found dead in apartment

Monday, Nov. 17, 2008 | 6:20 p.m.

Metro Police and emergency medical crews arrived at an apartment near East Tropicana Avenue and Koval Lane about 8:30 a.m. Sunday and found a man dead whose face had been beaten, police said.

Emergency medical crews determined that the man was beyond resuscitation in the apartment in the 4700 block of Deckow Lane, police said.

Metro Police detectives investigating the incident learned that the man, a 41-year-old Las Vegas resident, had attended a party at another apartment in his building on Saturday night, police said.

The man was injured during an altercation with other party goers and returned to his apartment where he apparently died of his injuries the next morning, police said.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until positive identification and notification of next of kin are completed by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Anyone having information about this homicide is urged to call either the Metro Police homicide section at 828-3521, or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555, if they wish to remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward.
