Letter to the editor:

Thin-skinned Palin is wearing thin, too

Wed, Nov 12, 2008 (2:03 a.m.)

It seems one cannot turn on the TV without being exposed to the unendurable interviews with Sarah Palin. What I have taken away from these numerous sessions is that Palin has a unique gift, and that is the ability to talk nonstop and say nothing. Also I have noticed that her signature word should be “articulate,” one she constantly uses during the interviews.

Enough of the sour grapes. She should be gracious in defeat and not be upset that she was not allowed to give her prepared concession speech on election night.

What I also have taken away from her increasing and annoying complaints is that she can sure dish it out (remember “he pals around with terrorists”?), but she can’t take the heat when aimed at her. I have two words for her: You lost.

Discussion: 26 comments so far…

  1. Aw, leave her alone. She's the best new comedy show in years.

  2. In Alaska she has an expensive Parka to shield her from the icy cold.

Washington is even colder. If she shows her face there again she's going to need more than a parka to shield her from the critics. That and an encyclopedia.

  3. Another 'one hit wonder'. Another one bites the dust.....

  4. Yeah, suddenly that awful "filter of the mainstream media" ain't so bad, is it, Sarah?

    Hypocrite.

  5. "but she can't take the heat when aimed at her"

Sarah has taken all the heat that Dems and lefty Republicans can throw and has not backed up. Palin is out and in the center of the media at the Republican Governor conf. Sarah is not hiding. Palin is on the talkshows - CNN today. Sarah is not running form any of your "heat"

Lefty Republicans(aka the real losers in 2006 and 2008) and Dems are already worried about 2012.

Why is that? Sarah is just a back to basics conservative.

You are starting the 2012 race awful early.

  6. Sarah Palin, and all the rest of the religious right, should go back to the Constitution party that was designed by them in the first place. The Republican Party can never be a serious contender again unless it ignores this group's planks.

The Libertarian Party is looking better every year to me.

  7. How can anyone, Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, or Moron believe that Sarah Palin is viable for anything other than being a Hockey Mom. Forget about the interviews, this is a Woman who obtained a passport one year ago, and had never been to a foreign country prior. This is a Woman who was not aware that Africa was a continent. This is a Woman who was not aware of the particiapnts in NAFTA. This is a Woman who has no business in Federal Government, other than maybe DC's dog catcher, so she can chase all the Pitbulls with lipstick. Time for her to just fade away back into obscurity, her 15 minutes have long ago expired.

  8. Now they're "lefty Republicans"? OMG LMAO.

Is that the new talking point? Did Rush say it was so?

  9. "back to basics conservative"? Barry Goldwater was a "back to basics conservative".

Smaller government, less spending, religion OUT of the mix. Do tell us how this is similar to Ms. Bridge To Nowhere/Bible Thumper.

Can't wait to read this one.

  10. Do a little checking on Sarah Palin's college education, and you will get a glimpse of her
"intellect". She's a deep thinker, no doubt.

  11. "Aw, leave her alone. She's the best new comedy show in years"

    Alan Stuart Franken(born May 21, 1951),

Al gained fame as a writer and a performer for Saturday Night Live, eventually writing and appearing in several films.

Since then, Franken has become more known for his pron writing numerous playboy articles, best-selling books and hosting a failed nationally-syndicated radio show on failed the Air America Radio.

Al failed to pay withhold taxes for his employees.

    Need the people say more?

  12. This must be an historic day if PatriciaLV and I agree on something. The GOP I was part of would never accept Palin as being a representitive of the party. And to be honest, "back to basics" would be not only a return to the ideas of Goldwater, but a revival of TR's Bull Moose Progressive Party of 1912. Heck, TR would be called a Democrat by most of today's so-called Republicans.

  13. "Sarah is just a back to basics conservative."

Who needs a basic encyclopedia! You don't expect much from your side of the aisle do you?

Sarah thinks she has a shot at an Obama administration job. Hey Barack, forget all that "danger to America" and "hangs with terrorists" stuff I said. How bout' a job?

What a clown this woman is! She's a laugh a minute.

  14. LOL boftx!

I may be "opposite" of conservatives, but I can respect, and actually agree with some ideals of, TRUE conservatives a la Goldwater.

There is NOTHING conservative about today's republican party. I think we can also agree on that.

I also think Clinton showed (some) glimpses that social liberal and fiscal conservative aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. And that's where I find myself: socially liberal, fiscally conservative.

While I identify more with left-leaning ideals, I can't help but wonder if it's simply an appearance of being far left due to today's republican party having shifted so far to the right and so far removed from true conservatism.

  15. Has anyone seen Joe The Biden?

    Still looking

    Still loking

  16. Sounds like somebody is hating Palin.

    "Who needs a basic encyclopedia!

What a clown this woman is! She's a laugh a minute."

    Hate, hate, hate...................

  17. What's the matter nance? Angry angry angry?

    Aw, mt'sum mt'sum. You're so cute when you're upset.

  18. I am not the one upset.

I am not the phony buddahist that posts crazy "IhateBush" stuff that who is now posting crazy "IhatePalin" stuff.

You are as phony as a 3 dollar bill.

Ohhhhhh I do not hate the person. I only hate their actions. WHAT BS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Jim, I think it's kind of interesting that johnevegas hasn't stated ONCE that he "hates" Palin. He never ONCE stated ANYWHERE that he "hates" Bush.

YOU'RE the only one saying that.

BTW, I seem to remember something from my religious studies (too!) many years ago about hating the sin, not the sinner.

  20. But Patricia, you're overlooking that Jim lives in a world where he knows what everyone else is really thinking, and if they deny it, then they he sets them straight. It's a convenient cycle for him, because he avoids ever having to admit he might be wrong about anything, ever, at all.

Jim's truth decided for me - I "hate" Sarah because I said she needs an encyclopedia.

My truth = I think Sarah needs an encyclopedia.

The difference is that Jim simply added his disowned hatred to me. Easy easy, ya?

  21. "phony buddahist" Gee Jim, that seems hateful. And illiterate.

BTW, the Buddha has supposedly reincarnated again in Nepal in the last couple days. It has not been confirmed yet, but I will let you know once it has.

You might want to put down that bottle and meditate.

    Nighty night.

  22. Words of Love:

"What a clown this woman is!"

    Love, love, love, love

I feel so warm and fuzzy

  23. "What a clown this woman is!"

I totally agree nance! She really is a laugh a minute. You too!

    "Love, love, love, love"

    I love that song too!

"I feel so warm and fuzzy"

Good Bourbon will do that for you.

  24. Since the Las Vegas Sun obviously will not print opposing views in their Letters to the Editor, I will put my reply to LaRue's letter here:

When a citizen of the United States is unfairly accused of wrongdoing or being the cause of some loss when they are not, that citizen has EVERY right to defend his or herself. If that involves giving interviews to the MSM, so be it.

To listen to something one finds 'unendurable' and then complain about it is nonsense. Anyone who does not wish to listen to Palin's interviews has the right to mute the sound on the radio or televison, or even to turn the channel. These are very simple and easy things to do.

Accusations of 'sour grapes' and taunts of 'You lost' sound very much like fear of a strong woman who may well, one day, challenge the winner of this strange and arduous election. Why some women are so harsh on women who are in positions of power is beyond me. It smacks of envy, and the same 'sour grapes' of which Gov. Palin is accused.

Since Palin is challenged to be a gracious loser, how about being a gracious winner? Remember the old saying: 'Turn about is fair play'.

  25. Please tell me you're kidding? You are so blinded by the desire to see a Woman occupying the Oval office that you would be willing to have someone of Sarah Palins limited intelligence elected?

This is not about "sour grapes", or taunts of any type. I doubt seriously that any of these posts have anything to do with envy, as I do not see how anyone could be envious of a Woman who was thrown into a position which she was not capable of handling. This is about a Woman who has the same geographical knowledge and unrehearsed oratory skills as Lauren Upton. A Woman who does not know the Countries involved in NAFTA. And the list of inadequacies goes on.

The worst part about the whole thing is she is already a Governor. How did that happen?

  26. Except, Justmy02, the MSM wouldn't even bother with her if she didn't keep yapping. She's acting anything BUT the gracious loser. She could learn an awful lot from McCain in this respect.

If the MSM could go on and on and on and on about haircuts received by Dems, why can't they go on and on and on and on about WAY more money being spent on clothes by a woman who claims to "identify" with working class people? A bit of disconnect there, wouldn't you say?

She ought to slink quietly back to her dead grizzly bear and forget this ever happened. Then maybe she can "oppose" another Bridge to Nowhere after its funding gets taken away and once again claim "maverick" status.

Sour grapes on the part of the "winners"? More like "sigh of relief".
