Nevada part of home stretch for presidential campaigns

With Tuesday's election approaching quickly, more late-inning presidential campaigning is going on in Las Vegas and other Nevada cities today and Monday.

Here's a quick rundown:

Today

• The McCain-Palin ticket has enlisted actor Stephen Baldwin to co-host two phone-bank rallies this morning in Las Vegas. Baldwin, who appeared in "The Usual Suspects," will appear with Capt. Jerry Coffee, who served with Republican presidential candidate John McCain as a POW in Vietnam, at a 10:30 a.m. rally at the North Las Vegas Victory Office, 5081 North Rainbow Ave., and at 11:30 a.m. at the Nevada Republican Party Office, 8625 West Sahara Ave. Those who wish to attend can RSVP online here.

• The Obama-Biden campaign is hosting many get out the vote canvassing rallies throughout the Las Vegas Valley. See local events here.

Monday

• Michelle Obama, the wife of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, will speak during a rally at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the College of Southern Nevada's Cheyenne Campus, on the south parking lot off Cheyenne Avenue, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave., in North Las Vegas. Gates will open at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are not required, but those attending are asked to RSVP at www.nv.barackobama.com. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Barack Obama spoke Saturday at Coronado High School in Henderson.

• Republican presidential candidate John McCain will speak at 6:45 p.m. Monday at a "Road to Victory Rally" at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 South Green Valley Parkway in Henderson. The doors open at 4 p.m. You can RSVP and print a ticket for the event here. McCain was last in Las Vegas in August.

• GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will speak in Reno and Elko on Monday. Palin will speak in Reno at 7:30 p.m. at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events, 1350 N. Wells Ave., in Reno. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. She will speak in Elko at 10 p.m. at Elko High School, 987 College Ave. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. (See more information at each event.)

    It's time for smart touch leadership and that will be provided by Barack Obama.

    A number of prominent Republicans and the family members of Reagan, Eisenhower, and Goldwater openly endorse Barack Obama.

    The United States faces many tough choices over the next decade. This Country needs a manager that will UNITE us once again.

    Barack Obama is the smart choice, the right choice, the best choice for America.

    As a true conservative that's what I believe.

    Be sure to ask Sarah why she believes that the First Amendment protects her from Journalists and also, why she believes it is okay for her to attack Mr. Obama's Religious beliefs when such hate speech is in fact NOT protected by the First Amendment.

    I work on the internet and make well over $250,000 per year. I employ people in both my businesses and provide them all with a good living a great places to work.

    I do this so I can sit here all day and wait for you to explain what you meant by your ferret statement.

    Sorry you have to leave. I understand the blue collar life. Started there myself about 30 years ago. Now, I'm a rich computer geek from California who makes more money than you will ever dream about. Your hateful karma wont get you there either, so you've really got a row to hoe. So to speak.

    Dude you own a Ferret, you have a rat for a pet. Is that all you can afford with your 250k a year. FYI, I live in Sarasota Fl, look at the demographics,hmm. I'm an estate advisor, 250k is chump change. I wouldn't spend a second with a loser like yourself. I would be proud to compare bank rolls...I love to visit Vegas on the weekends, and have several friends there, usually stay at the Palms. I would think a six digit salary would at least get you a dog. It's kind of creepy that you have a rat for a pet. How pathetic are you? Ya you feel good about yourself cuddling up to your rat ferret all by yourself. I already knew you were a geek, and a lazy fat ass, no explanation was needed for that, it was obvious. Why are you knocking blue collar workers? They are the back bone of your party, just like yourself? Go eat another jelly donut, but you would be better off taking your rat for a walk, instead playing with yourself in front of the comuter all day.

    Well since you hate ferrets and are pretty ignorant, why not kill two birds with one stone.

    First, my zoologically impaired friend, ferrets have more in common with badgers than rats.

    Second, I'm nobody's pet. I chose the name redferret, because that's my online tag. So next time someone in Halo 3 is pwning you and decides to tap/untap the crouch button a few times over your player's body, that's me (gamers will know what that does).

    Third, ferret's are actually loved pets, but a little stinky and finicky. They probably cost more to own than a dog (minus vet bills), so they aren't exactly pets for the poor.

    Fourth, if your pick is losing, chill out drink a beer and just let the next four years slide past you.

    Ferret is my daughter's pet. Our Golden Retriever died 3 months ago of a massive seizure. Haven't had the heart to replace him yet. Miss him dearly. He used to say "I love you" really well.

    Seems really mean spirited and judgmental. I don't think you know much about Ferrets. She's very nice and cute but not social like dogs. She has a sweet personality and likes to play (I don't think rats do that) with her toys, but that's about it for interaction.

    I didn't. Said I used to be one. You don't read too good (versus well). I'm better at creating new technologies on the computer than fixing pipes. I never criticized fixing pipes. Again, you said I was a lazy welfare recipient. Own your insults first and stop pretending I said something I didn't.

    When we have sunk to hating people for their pets, we have sunk beyond where I'm willing to go. Though I am wondering about all sucking and biting insects in Siffermans back yard and what that might mean. He lives in Florida you know.
