flashpoint:
The power of Sun City
Friday, May 30, 2008 | 2 a.m.
If you have forgotten the power of Sun City, it was demon-
strated Wednesday night in Anthem. Fourteen candidates for judicial offices came to genuflect to the oldsters at a Democratic function that was unwieldy but ambitious. Attendance was not great — 50 or so. But the event also illuminated the need to pay attention during judicial races. “Very few people know very much about judicial candidates,” opined one contender, John Jensen. In fact, did you know that Washoe District Judge Deborah Schumacher is “remarkably, the only sitting judge” in the Supreme Court race, as she informed the crowd? I bet there’s a lot more about these races people don’t know. Better get all of them on “Face to Face.”
