Gov. Jim Gibbons is not just getting brickbats tossed his way from Democrats anymore. If it’s not an Elko newspaper trying to bury him, it’s conservative activist Chuck Muth, who is prolific and brutal. Muth, the Carson City-based polemicist, has written a column blasting the governor for not being as true to a no-new-taxes credo as he claims. And now Muth has written a letter, along with others, all but chastising Gibbons for delaying the implementation of a government transparency program. “There is no reason for Nevada taxpayers to have to wait through another election to see how their tax dollars are being spent,” Muth and others wrote in Citizen Outreach. With friends like this, Gibbons will be retired quite soon.
