There was much speculation late Friday as eleventh-hour questions were raised about whether prominent Clark County officials, including Commissioner Bruce Woodbury, were term-limited. The issue is murky because the limits passed in 1996 but the question of when the clock started ticking has yet to be resolved. Woodbury, who has been in office more than a quarter-century, might not be affected while school board members and regents in office half that time would be. This is a legal conundrum with political consequences, including for the two Democrats — Secretary of State Ross Miller and Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto — who have to make these decisions. Oh, and a judge might have a say, too.
