Tsvangirai postpones Zimbabwe return after threat

Sat, May 17, 2008 (4:57 a.m.)

A Zimbabwe opposition spokesman says threats of assassination have derailed plans for party leader Morgan Tsvangirai to return home.

Spokesman George Sibotshiwe says party officials received information from a "credible source" that an attempt would be made Saturday on Tsvangirai's life.

The Movement for Democratic Change leader had planned to return Saturday but was now postponing that indefinitely.

He says party officials are consulting with their own security experts and regional leaders.

Tsvangirai had hoped to campaign for the runoff election set for June 27.
