So now that a judge has decided yet another initiative is fit for the ballot, let’s talk about the methods some signature-gatherers were using this week to get folks to sign the petition that would require that two-thirds of voters approve any tax-raising proposition. A friend had just left the gym and was asked to sign “the state controller’s initiative.” The would-be signature-gatherers then explained what “he” was trying to do with it until my pal pointed out that the controller is a “she” — Kim Wallin. No, no, they said — it’s Steve Martin and “not the comedian.” They are funny and ignorant, too. You see, ex-Controller Martin is fronting this one for Sheldon Adelson, but the pitch is still a mighty stretch. Oh, and my friend declined to sign.
