In a news release that bordered on self-parody Friday during the special session, Gov. Jim Gibbons called it a “logical progression” that he fired his top aides and made other staff changes. Indeed, one of them, Deputy Chief of Staff Dianne Cornwall, actually switched jobs with Business and Industry boss Mendy Elliott. A demotion that makes no sense is a “logical progression” in this Lack of Administration. And this quote from ousted Chief of Staff Mike Dayton: “I would like to thank the governor for the valuable experience I gained in my roll as chief of staff, and I wish the governor and his staff well.” Roll as chief of staff? Perhaps in his role he learned how to get rolled by Cornwall. And now, by the governor.
