Just read this reaction to the special session being delayed: “We’re glad everyone is working together to come up with a solution to the budget shortfall. We will continue to fight for the teachers and support professionals of Nevada. We don’t want them to balance the budget on the backs of the working men and women of this state. They must preserve education funding as this state already ranks near the bottom of the list in per-pupil spending and we cannot afford to drop any further. We are going to wait and see what the governor and the Legislature come up with.” That’s from Lynn Warne, the perfectly nice woman who helms the state teachers union. But it is, to be kind, drivel. Sometimes silence is golden. A teacher should know that.
