FLASHPOINT:
The political world is simply drenched in cynicism.

The political world is simply drenched in cynicism. How else to explain the reaction to Gov. Jim Gibbons’ call for a Yucca Mountain summit “to ensure all opponents are coordinating their efforts to combat the project most effectively.” Seems some people think the governor might be using this photo op, where surely not much new can be revealed, to distract from his many political and personal problems. “Governor, others vow to fight Yucca to the gates of hell,” the headlines are sure to read. Such cynicism! Then again, anything the beleaguered governor does could be said to be a distraction from what he isn’t doing. Next, people will be saying John McCain will do anything to avoid a photo op with Gibbons. Such cynicism!
