flashpoint:
An attack unanswered is an attack accepted
Tue, Jun 3, 2008 (2 a.m.)
I suppose the state Democratic Party believes in that old political adage that an attack unanswered is an attack accepted even if that attack is a waste of time. Such is the case with Freedom’s Watch’s robocall into Rep. Shelley Berkley’s district about troop support part of an effort by the group, heavily funded by Gondolier Numero Uno Sheldon Adelson, to hurt Democratic House candidates. Berkley could talk nonstop for the next five months and still not lose, so some have speculated this was just Adelson venting a grudge against Berkley, who once worked for him but left under very nasty circumstances. Whatever the reason, the Democrats didn’t need to defend Berkley that was a waste, too. But a news release costs a lot less than a robocall.
