Man accused of attacking officer found dead in jail

Corrections officers discovered an inmate dead inside a cell on the fifth floor of the Clark County Detention Center on Monday, Metro Police said.
They discovered the inmate, 40-year-old Donald Mason, unresponsive about 4:18 p.m., police said. Medical staff and the AMR ambulance service responded but determined the man was dead, police said.
The Clark County Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death, police said.
Mason was arrested on the 215 Beltway and Jones Boulevard on July 16 after he rammed his 1994 Toyota SUV into the unmarked police car of a detective who had previously arrested Mason, police said.
The SUV that Mason drove left the pavement and rolled over at least once before coming to rest on its wheels, police said.
The detective regained control of his vehicle and began to approach Mason's SUV to check for injuries. Police said Mason left his vehicle with a screwdriver in hand and began attacking the officer.
A passing motorist stopped and assisted the officer in subduing and restraining Mason, who had been arrested earlier for gross lewdness, narcotics violations, DUI and domestic violence with battery, police said.
Mason faced new charges of one count each of attempted murder on a police officer, resisting a police officer with a deadly weapon, aggravated stalking and two counts of battery with a deadly weapons.

How could this not have been an "accident"?
And a very well planned out 'accident' at that Mike.
Hey wait a minute... this city is GTA4, aren't they supposed to take his stash, most his cash, and release him back on the streets that afternoon?
And none of the worthless media in this town dare ask questions of metro just wait for the official line from the county cover-up, I mean coroner's office.
Unacceptable. We have something called the rule of law in this country and it's sort of a big deal.
