Letter to the editor:

Vote for either man is a vote for war

Thu, Jul 24, 2008 (2 a.m.)

Now that we are finally getting rid of that warmonger, President Bush, we have a choice:

(1) Vote for John McCain and get deeper into a war in Afghanistan, or

(2) Vote for Barack Obama and get the same thing.

Why even bother to vote?

Millions of young voters must be shocked.

Older voters who remember that the Afghans soundly repelled a Russian invasion know the bloodshed will be enormous.

Come on, Barack, while it’s still time, change your mind. Your last chance. Say “no more bloody wars” — and win.

Or, why even bother to go to the polls?

  1. Hussein has moved from the far crazy left to the moderate left. I think they are real, too.

    1) He voted for FISA
    2) He has new found love for gun ownership
    3) He is proud of his phony vote for the Clinton Kick People off Welfare bill
    4) He wants to dramatically increase the troops in Afghanistan

My leftist friends, Hussein still has many leftist positions of which he will do smoke and mirrors to hide so do not worry.

His support for FISA will continue because you have to be brain dead not to support FISA.

Democrats know not to touch gun ownership so it does not matter what Hussein believes on that.

His welfare thing is 100% BS so you lefties should not worry there.

He will wage unholy war in Afghanistan because he needs to prove that he is willing to fight for the USA. It is similar to the same reason why LBJ got us into Vietnam.

  2. People get too paranoid. Even if he is further left than he appears, he would not have unlimited, unchecked power. That's why we have 3 branches of government.

No presidential candidate is going to be able to avoid being at war at this time. We had our chance to avoid the current debacle years ago.

If you really want to avoid these war scenarios in the future, why not work toward laws requiring mandatory military service? I guarantee that when you have a nation where most people suddenly HAVE to go to war, they will be a lot more thoughtful in their decisions and enthusiasm about when and where to start such action.

  3. The Kenndys control BO. So they are going to try to recreate RFK'S short reign. JM has been running for ages and now all of a sudden he's the best. When America has never ever wanted him in the first place.

  4. "He will wage unholy war in Afghanistan because he needs to prove that he is willing to fight for the USA. It is similar to the same reason why LBJ got us into Vietnam."

Hello!!!!! Does anyone remember why we're at war in Afghanistan in the first place?!?!?!

Remember September 11, 2001? Remember where those people trained? Remember what government was protecting, housing, and supporting those people?

Obama and McCain are both correct in saying we need to keep on fighting in Afghanistan. President Bush's shame (at least in part; he has some much of which to be ashamed) is that he took us into Iran when the real problem was al Qaeda and their Taliban protectors.

Keep up the war in Afghanistan until al Qaeda is destroyed.

  5. here here JohnF. Iraq was a distraction at best, the real threat has been in Afganistan.

  6. I am very happy that all of you are supporting the war in Afghanistan.

Unlike, the writer of this letter, you all have some common sense.

  7. I want to vote for option C....None of the above
