The coroner has determined that 51-year-old Jerry A. Ziolecki's death was caused by multiple injuries after his 2005 Roketa 49cc scooter crashed into a light pole in the northwest valley.

Ziolecki's injuries resulted from the scooter hitting a curb and crashing into a light pole, the coroner said.

Metro Police said that the scooter was going north on North Jones Boulevard near West Bromley Avenue along the paved right shoulder. Witnesses told police the scooter passed slower traffic until it struck the east curb of Jones and slid into a light pole.

Ziolecki was taken to University Medical Center trauma unit with critical injuries and died shortly after arriving at the hospital, police said.

This is the 67th traffic-related death investigated by Metro Police this year.
