Letter to the editor:
McCain needs reality check on Afghanistan
Wednesday, July 16, 2008 | 2:02 a.m.
John McCain stated Tuesday that when he is president he will send thousands more troops into Afghanistan under a new “unified” command that will control our debacle in Iraq as well. He said he will also form a “special force” to fight the Afghan drug trade and call for tens of thousands more Afghan troops.
But he said he doesn’t think it would be right for U.S. taxpayers alone to pay to support these troops. He thinks the rest of the world should help us pay.
But how can we believe there is any chance of that? Remember when President Bush promised that Iraqi oil revenues would pay for his war? Now we are on the hook for billions of dollars!
Also, before McCain admits his sure loss in this election, someone should tell him he is not in control of what other countries are willing to pay for. And please remind him that the United States has lost the so-called drug war here in our own country after decades of effort. Ask him what makes him think his special force can win a drug war in Afghanistan?
He also repeated three times that, if elected, he will catch Osama bin Laden. Please wake him up and remind him that tens of thousands of U.S. and international troops have not been able to do this in nearly seven years, so if he can do this, why hasn’t he told his secret to these troops?

Dear Frank, I am glad to see that someone is excited about Afghanistan. I sign my real name because I can always back up my comments. Mr. Bush started the War in Iraq because there was a half beaten defined enemy who was easily beaten. The Taliban were next. Please remember the Russians lost in Afghanistan and they were next door. In 2000 years this country has never been fully conquered. The Kabul Government does not really exist. Their President is a former Drug Lord and Mr. Bush still owes $45,000,000.00 to the old Saudi controlled Bank BCCI. There was never going to be a win. Bin Ladens money is in The 3 safe haven banks in Europe. Ask your senator why have not we confiscated that money. The King of Saudi Arabia controls the playing field for now. Until a real American takes control of the world situation for American interest only, you will not see change. Also I was a Treasury consultant, and I was once a gangster, I know Politcs.
