After everything he has done in a year and a half to make a mockery of the office, should Gov. Jim Gibbons be impeached for a tax controversy? That specter was raised in the blogosphere after the Associated Press reported a rural assessor felt pressured by the governor and a tax commissioner hired by Gibbons to give the state’s chief executive a significant tax break. It sure looked like preferential treatment for a high official, despite the vociferous denials by the governor’s spokesman. Hey, here’s an idea: How about the governor calling a special session on the budget to deflect from this crisis? I am sure no legislator would dare bring up impeachment articles upon the Gang of 63’s return to Carson City.
