READERS RESPOND:

Why speeders need a wake-up call

Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008 | 2 a.m.

Jack Sheehan’s Sunday column about Debbie Anderson and her dog, Midas, should be required reading for all who choose to speed through school zones.

There are probably many of us who remember her crossing the UNLV campus with Midas, or standing on the curb ready to cross Maryland Parkway. Traffic rarely followed the posted speed limit, and today it is the same scene.

Maybe this column will be a wake-up call. I doubt that anyone who remembers Ms. Anderson ever speeds in front of UNLV on Maryland Parkway.

What possibilities were lost that day when she and Midas were killed?
