TRAFFIC INVESTIGATION:

Man killed in three-car collision

Two others suffer minor injuries in accident

Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008 | 3:31 p.m.

A 75-year-old man was killed in three-car crash Wednesday morning at East Flamingo and South Sandhill roads, according to Metro Police.

The two others injured in the crash have been identified as 43-year-old Tim Nicothodes of Las Vegas and 26-year-old Nicole Kodba of Las Vegas. Both Nicothodes and Kodba suffered minor injuries.

Police said the accident occurred at 8:01 a.m., when the fatality victim was traveling east on Flamingo at Sandhill in a 2000 Dodge Dakota and went through the red light, striking Nicothodes’ 2008 Ford F350, which had a green light and was going south on Sandhill, police said.

The Dodge struck the right front of Nicothodes’ vehicle, sending both vehicles in a southeast direction, police said.

The Dodge then went into the private property on the southeast corner, striking the third vehicle, Kodba’s 2007 Honda, which was in the Starbucks drive-through lane.

The driver of the Dodge was pronounced dead at the scene. Nicothodes was transported to Sunrise Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

This collision, which is the 113th traffic-related fatality in Metro Police’s jurisdiction in 2008, remains under investigation, police said.

  8. It is hard to believe that just a tiny moment of mistake, and so many suffer loss of life. I'm sure he must have had the sun in his eyes at that time, but had no idea the pain he'd cost his family and the other accident victims. It's wonderful that he has those that care, all to many older people have no one. I'm 81 and know what it means to have someone love you. So many don't.
    My sympathies.

  11. This man was my last remaining brother. Just 13 days before this accident, we lost an older brother, aged 84, which makes the shock of this even harder to accept. I seldom got to see my brother and his family, as I live thousands of miles away. Even so, the stories he told, the life he lived, and the laughter he brought are legendary in our family. He will be sadly missed by all. May He Rest Peacefully. With Love, His Baby Sister, Linda

  12. This man who passed away in this tremendous tragedy was a man we were proud to call our friend. In the few short years we knew Bob, we knew him to be someone whom could counted on for anything from help with trimming the trees to just sitting down with a cup of coffee and having a few laughs together. As I look back on the time we shared together, I can't help but think of the countless hours we spent sitting on my back porch as he watched his grandaughter Kristabella as she played in our yard and our swimming pool. It seems to me that those were the times when he was happiest. I will miss you my dear friend. Godspeed.........

    Love,

    James and Kim

  15. Dear Uncle Bill, I miss you more than words can say. You were my Uncle, friend, my strength.I feel like my heart has been cut in half. You were the most loving, caring person. You were always there for me. Your absence is almost more than I can bear. You treated me with love, respect and were a good listener. I love you and you live within my heart every moment. You touched so many lives. May you rest until we all meet again. With all of my love, your neice, Diane

  16. This wonderful man was my Father and my Dad, he gave me courage, confidence, strength and the love that I needed to make the right decisions in my life. He accepted 6 children when he asked my mother to marry him 25 years ago. He loved my mother with all his heart, he would do anything for anyone of us at any given time. He has left behind a legacy that I am proud to carry on. I am so thankful to have been blessed over these last 25 years by a man I am proud to call my dad. Dad you will be missed terribly, but I am comforted in knowing that I will see you again in heaven. I love you. Your daughter Gloria.
