Portion of Decatur to be closed for construction
Decatur Boulevard under the 215 Beltway in the valley’s southwest region will be closed to traffic from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Jan. 4-8.
The overnight closures are necessary for the safety of construction crews, who will be painting the Beltway’s widened bridge structures over Decatur. The closures will also ensure paint spray does not fall on any vehicles, which would normally be under the bridge.
Enterprise Library to host karaoke
The Enterprise Library will host Enterprise Has Talent Jan. 10.
The karaoke event for teens will be 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the library, 25 E. Shelbourne Ave.
Music will be provided.

The Enterprise Library will host Saturday Movie Matinee Jan. 10.
The event is meant for teens and will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the story room at the library, 25 E. Shelbourne Ave.

Bridal Expo coming to South Point
The South Point Hotel Casino will host the Las Vegas Bridal Expo Jan. 4 in the Events Center, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
The event will feature more than 200 wedding professionals in businesses taking care of catering, baking and gown needs.

Motorcycle events come to South Point
The South Point will host the MidAmerica Motorcycle Auction Jan. 8-10 and Gene Romero’s West Coast Flat Track Series Jan. 9-10.
The auction will feature 500 vintage and classic motorcycles.
The flat track series is championship indoor short track motorcycle races.
Tickets for the auction are $15 per a day or $30 for a 3-day pass. A dinner package is $85. Tickets are available at the door or by calling (615) 633-9655.
Tickets for the flat track series are $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 6-16. Children younger than 6 are free.

Extension offering free radon test kits
The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, 8050 Paradise Road, is offering free radon test kits during January.
Radon is a radioactive cancer-causing gas that comes from the natural decay of uranium in soil and can enter any home through foundation cracks, openings and some of the porous materials used to construct foundations and floors.
To obtain a free test kit visit the extension office or attend one of the following free presentations:

The Salvation Army Henderson Corps has named to its board Ehsan Kaveh of Henderson-based advertising/public relations firm Imagine Marketing.
