Three Metro Police officers who were wounded Sunday while serving a warrant on a Seven Hills home have been released from University Medical Center and are recovering, Metro spokesmen said.

Metro's SWAT team was serving a narcotics warrant at the home just before 10 p.m. when an occupant shot at officers as they entered, police said.

Police arrested Emmanuel Dozier, 32, and booked him into the Clark County Detention Center on suspicion of three counts of attempted murder of a police officer and three counts of sale of cocaine. He was being held on $3 million bail.

Dozier appeared in Henderson Justice Court today via video from the detention center. No attorney appeared in his behalf. Justice of the Peace Rodney Burr set an arraignment for Jan. 5.

KLAS Channel 8 reported that a woman who lived in the home said police did not announce that they were coming in the house and that the man who fired on them, who neighbors said is her boyfriend, believed he was protecting the home from intruders.

In a statement, Metro Lt. Lew Roberts said Dozier fired on the officers through the door as they attempted to enter the home, and that he surrendered a short time later.

A 911 call was made from the home during the raid, Metro officer Jacinto Rivera, a spokesman, said, and Henderson dispatchers, who took the call, told the caller that it was Metro Police at the door, not intruders.

Metro Police have jurisdiction throughout Clark County, Rivera said.

"We have concurrent jurisdiction," he said. "We go where crime takes us."

Henderson police were given information about the raid before it occurred as a professional courtesy, he said.

  1. A swat team to serve a warrant Wow must have known that he was violent,
Intruders dont show up in riot gear either.
And why is it that the Lt. Roberts is making light of the man surrendering, Was it a case where five officer held him down and then Dozier cries ok I give up! Now!, Looks like he was took by force and should have after firing through the door.
The only thing he was concerned about is was someone stealing his drugs or is he going to jail.
He should have retreated farther into his home and faced with a life or death situation befor firing a weapon indiscriminately.
Any arrant bullet may have killed a child.

  2. I agree this is one less bad guy and I am glad no officers were killed. Chicks dig scars.

Jacinto Rivera's comments about going where crime takes us baffles me. Last week while taking a bunch of kids to see the lights at sunset park I was nearly run off the road by what had to have been a drunk driver. The idiot had no lights on and was all over the road. The swerving attempts appeared intentional in an otherwise erratic scenario. I decided to call 911. At this point I was heading north on green valley just over the 215. I connected to a metro dispatcher. After she got my position she transferred me to henderson with a long hold time. Henderson PD took the call but at that point the idiot had driven off and I was happy that he was out of my sight.

According to Rivera, jurisdiction doesn't matter because they go where crime is. I understand that a drug dealer with firearms is different than a drunk driver. But... who is more likely to take out a family on their way to see christmas lights?

  3. If Manuel surrendered, why was his eye black? Excessive forces seems to be the norm in Vegas. That's what happens to crooked cops!

  4. MY UNCLE STILL LOOKS GOOD AFTER POLICE BEAT HIM UP FOR WHAT TO APPEAR FOR NOTHING....TO COVER THEY OWN AS>.... HOW COME POLICE MAKE BAD MISTAKES N GET A GIFT WHEN THEY DO IT AND IF WE DO IT WE GET PUNISHMENT..... MORE POLICE TO STOP CRIMES OR MORE POLICE TO TAKE LIVES AWAY....WHATEVER IS DOZIER IS INNOCENT....

  5. Dozier ain't no bad guy... Police found no drugs... If they knew he was violent wouldn't it make sense not to endanger anyone else during their warrent... Since when does the police open a door with a shotgun blast? Read the warrant issue police procedure, states exactly that.

  6. I'd make a comment, but it is too ludicrous to contemplate. The foolish police forced their attentions on another person in this valley. Which, they are very good at doing. Call the man outside for a drug buy and corral him there. Why the wild cowboy stunt. Why destroy the home, and the children's toys--to make a point?

The police should be charged with malicious stupidity for endangering the lives of all, including the children.

Dozier was protecting himself and family. The jury will see it that way--I'm sure.

Otherwise, why is the police making such a big deal out of his juvenile record--in the newspapers? He was not a felon. Can't get a gun license with a felony on your record. He was licensed--remember?

What struggle? He surrendered. Were the police trying to break his arms? I'd struggle to get out of that brutality, too.

I'll help him and the family spend our taxpayers money he's sure to collect. "Protect & serve, my a..!"
