Letter to the editor:
Yet more proof of the president’s arrogance
Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 | 2:02 a.m.
Just when I thought nothing more disgusting could be said by President George W. Bush, the unbelievable happened. In an interview the other day with ABC’s Martha Raddatz, Bush had to be corrected by her that there was no al-Qaida in Iraq until we invaded that country.
Here’s the exchange:
Bush: “One of the major theaters against al-Qaida turns out to have been Iraq. This is where al-Qaida said they were going to take their stand. This is where al-Qaida was hoping to take ...”
Raddatz: “But not until after the U.S. invaded.”
Bush: “Yeah, that’s right. So what?”
So what? The arrogance and audacity of this man is utterly disgraceful.
I wonder how the families of the more than 4,200 U.S. military killed feel (plus the more than 30,000 wounded).
We have 33 more days under this current disreputable and dishonest administration. It will take well over the first year under President Barack Obama to put even a small dent in the extremely large pile of problems he will inherit. So we all must be patient. I implore all the journalists and commentators/pundits (especially Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh) to give him a chance.
I truly hope (and sort of predict) all letters in the future will be positive ones.

"One of the major theaters against al-Qaida turns out to have been Iraq. This is where al-Qaida said they were going to take their stand. This is where al-Qaida was hoping to take ..."
This is true and yes it became the situation after the Iraq was invaded. Nothing new here.
President George W. Bush and ABC's Martha Raddatz had a conversation and it was all truthful. Nothing new here.
Yes LaRue S. Boenig has only 33 more days of Bush Bashing. Nothing new here.
Having todate spent 2881 days Bush Bashing, LaRue S. Boenig can use a few days off before he gets on Obama for lack of getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan and for "air-raiding villages and killing civilians".
Barack Obama will continue the war on terror including al-Qaida where ever they are.
Barack Obama has said he will leave Iraq based on the Bush/Gates/Petraeus plan.
Barck Obama will be increasing the war on terror effort in Afghanistan with 20,000 new troops based on the Bush/Gates/Petraeus plan
I guess Boeing is saying that she preferred al-Qaida's main focus for war operations to be Europe or the USA.
al-Qaida is on life support now. If they re-energized themselves then they probably shift their focus on Europe and/or USA.
Boeing said nothing about wanting focus changed, jfnance32, you're making stuff up again. That's sad.
al-Qaeda is "on life support?" Is that why they've successfully protected bin Laden for seven years? Is that why they continue to organize and train new recruits in Pakistan?
You've obviously swallowed a jug of that kool aid Bush has been pushing through his "redefine victory" legacy tour.
Boeing point was about Bush's arrogance, so obviously on display with his response. "So what?" That's not what you said several times before and even during the war, Mr. President.
And Future, it's cute how you confused Obama's plan, which was withdrawal based on conditions on the ground, with Bush's adoption of Obama's plan. Even the Iraqi government agreed with Obama's plan. Bush was the last to sign on, and out-of-step the longest.
That's ok, let's not let reality intrude on the warped worldview of the wingnuts of the right.
"it's cute how you confused Obama's plan"
Obama original plan was immediate withdrawal and he never thought that the surge would work
He moved to THE Bush/Gates/Petraeus plan to get elected.
And now Obama is hiring Gates and Petraeus to run his 20,000 troop surge in Afghanistan.
Clock is ticking only 33 more days to play Bush bashing games.
Please give Obama a few days off before getting on Obama for lack of getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan, for not firing Petraeus, and for "air-raiding villages and killing civilians".
Not so keen with the revisionist history, are you, Future?
Try as you might, you won't convince anyone that history didn't happen. Obama's "original plan" was not to invade in the first place. That was the correct judgment, and something that Bush/Rumsfeld/Cheney could never understand.
His withdrawal plan was a slow, structured one, announced in mid-2007, that left troops in more volatile areas.
He called for a gradual withdrawal in 2005, in a speech to the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations.
He requested a timetable for withdrawal from Condoleeza Rice in 2005, during her confirmation hearings.
In a floor statement in June of 2006, he said, "But having visited Iraq, I'm also acutely aware that a precipitous withdrawal of our troops, driven by Congressional edict rather than the realities on the ground, will not undo the mistakes made by this Administration. It could compound them."
Bush threatened to veto a congressional emergency spending bill in 2007, because it contained a timetable for withdrawal.
Sorry, your revisionist history doesn't pass the smell test.
Why does Obama want to send more troops to the unconstitutional war in Afghansitan?
Will that make him a war criminal?
Obama never approved any money for the war.
If Obama had his way we would have left Iraq 3 years ago.
That is as about immediate as you can get.
Precipitous withdrawal to Obama meant one week vs a few months. He eventulatly moved to 16 months with no commitment of the status of force after 16 months.
Can you last 33 day?
"Obama never approved any money for the war."
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articl...
"Yet Obama has voted for all of the president's war funding requests since coming to the Senate, and is poised to vote in favor of the latest request when it comes to the Senate floor this spring."
What's that sound? Of someone choking on reality?
Lies won't help your cause, Future.
"Why does Obama want to send more troops to the unconstitutional war in Afghansitan?"
I thought that was the war in Iraq? You know, the country that didn't attack us first? The shoe thrower guys? The country that has the other U.S. troops that should be in Afghanistan now?
You know, I would like to say that Bush could not have counted on the insurgency after killing Saddam, but that would not be true.
I must have been sleeping.
When did Congress declare war on AFghanistan?
Who said anything about congress declaring war on Afghanistan?
Worst U.S. president of all time. Still has no clue 8 years later.
There were tons of kooliad people who says that Bush's wars are unconstitutional.
I guess they are kool with Obama pumping money and soliders into the Afghanistan war which according to them is an unconstitutional war.
THE EXISTENTIAL THREAT TO MANKIND MANY STILL REFUSE TO SEE
History will record favorably President Bush's removal of that cruel Islamic slaughterer of innocent Muslims, Saddam Hussein of Iraq. Now appeals of Islamic terrorism are spiraling down worldwide, and Iraqis can hope to breathe the air of freedom and dreams their hopes in life, provided they continue their own fights against remnants of the al-Qaedans and their ilks.
Sadly many Muslims are still in complicity in this wicked cosmic conspiracy---not for the Quran's good teachings that non-Muslims look for and cherish, but for its unfailing inspiration for murders and great evil on their own Muslim people and on others.
To get out of this evil conspiracy, Muslims must first reject the prohibition of their Quran on Muslims wanting to ask questions to understand why things often go so wrong for Islam and for the Great Muslim Ummah. Muslims must be courageous to recognise the fear of allah---that Muslims, if they understand too well, will lose their faith in the Quran's many wrong and bad teachings (Al-Maida 5:101-102), as Islam needs the Muslims' unquenchable hatred and irrational paranoia to keep alive their zeal for jihads by the sword.
Instead, Muslims must obey what their Quran also says, that there is light and guidance in the Bible for their blessings from above and beneath (Al-Maida 5:44-46, 66). But in the Bible, Allah obliges His people to go to Him to ask questions & argue/reason with Him so that they set forth their case to prove that they are right and God is wrong (re Isaiah 1:18, 43:26).
Moreover, Muslims must revive the beliefs of their ancient Mu'tazilite Muslim brothers (whom the mindless followers of their benighted ancient imams Hanbal, Malik, Hanifa, etc, had mass-slaughtered almost to extinction); they must stop believing that their Quran, like God Himself, is also Uncreated and in Arabic, so the Quranic command to kill infidels (re At-Tauba 9:5, etc) will always be valid, as it was long before the beginning of time & the creation of the first atom in the Universe.
So if Americans and those who breathe the air of freedom still refuse to understand that Islamic terrorism is inspired by Islam, not as something invented by President Bush for his pretext to wage war on Muslims, this ancient enemy of mankind will forever remain with us to try inflicting on mankind the sad fate that their ancient Mu'tazilite Muslim brothers had long succumbed to in their fratricide.

While Muslims like to boast that they were the ones who excelled in scientific discoveries & technological inventions in ancient times, they prefer not to tell the world that it was their Mu'tazilites brothers they had decimated who were really the ones responsible for the ancient Islamic empires' pre-eminence in science & technology. Mu'tazilites were also very intelligent, inquisitive, rational, tolerant & industrious---a far cry from the mindless, blood-lusty modern-day Muslims.
So if Americans & those who breathe the air of freedom still refuse to understand that Islamic terrorism is inspired by Islam, rather than as something invented by President Bush for his pretext to wage war on Muslims, this ancient enemy of mankind will forever remain with us to inflict on mankind the sad fate that their ancient Mu'tazilite Muslim brothers had long succumbed to in their fratricide.
