Rice, Mullen asking India, Pakistan to cooperate

Wed, Dec 3, 2008 (3:03 a.m.)

The top U.S diplomat and the country's senior military officer are making a direct appeal to India and Pakistan to share information following the terror attacks in Mumbai.

The Bush administration sent Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to India while Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is going to Pakistan. Rice told reporters she wants to see full cooperation, especially from Pakistan.

Rice arrived in New Delhi as part of a U.S. effort to ease tensions in the region after a three-day terrorist attack killed 171 people in India's financial capital. Indian and U.S. officials have pointed the finger at Pakistani-based groups in the attacks.
