Metro Police are reminding residents to be wary of solicitors this holiday season.
The department wants the public to note that Metro Police officers don’t solicit money by phone or by going door-to-door.
“In recent days and weeks, the department has received many calls to verify that the department is seeking money for different charitable programs involving women and children. We are not doing any solicitations,” the department wrote in a news release Wednesday.
Metro Police said residents shouldn’t give cash or credit information to anyone claiming to be collecting on behalf of the department.
Police are asking anyone who might be a victim to report the incident to 311 or department’s office of public information at 828-3394.
