Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 | 6:31 a.m.

Put away the winter coat and pull out the sunglasses. The first day of December will bring Las Vegas sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s, according to the National Weather Service.

Today's high is expected to reach 73 degrees, the weather service said. That's close to the record of 74 degrees for this date, which was set in 1943.

The normal high for today is 60 and the normal low is 39 degrees. The record low was 26 degrees, set in 1957.

This morning's low temperature at McCarran International Airport was 50 degrees at 5:56 a.m.

More warm weather is expected on Tuesday. Tuesday's morning low temperature will be 51 degrees. Tuesday's high will climb to 71 degrees, with sunny skies.

The weather service said the warm weather throughout the Southwest is being brought by high pressure centered off the cost of California.
