- Prediction: Mustangs continue to improve
After five years away, coach Frank DeSantis is in his second year of his second stint at The Meadows and looking to build on the solid starting point the team established last year.
"When you come into a new program, like I did at The Meadows, the players have to get used to you and the assistants have to get used to you," DeSantis said. "We got that out of the way last year and are going to continue that this year."
After four stagnant years without DeSantis, The Meadows posted a 7-4 record last year. With some key losses, including quarterback Graham Hilts and linebacker Guy Capana, the coach will have some holes to fill this fall.
"We have some good, young, talented freshmen coming up," DeSantis said.
One of those freshmen is Gerard Martinez, who won the starting quarterback job this summer.
While the Mustangs will feature several underclassman, DeSantis said, a group of seniors will be the leaders. Pat Kenny, Dylan Parr and Brett Lebowitz will be asked to lead the younger athletes in the right direction.
