Alicia Forrest, right, is consoled after being hit in the chest and knocked over by a Denver police officer during demonstrations at Civic Center Park on Tuesday. Forrest was arrested shortly afterward while talking to a journalist about the incident.

A demonstrator, above, who identified himself as Carlos Javier Garcia, is arrested by Aurora (Colo.) Police during demonstrations at Civic Center Park in Denver on Tuesday. A clash between protesting factions led to Garcia’s arrest when he stood too close to an opposing group and defied police orders to move.

Authorities were also busy early Tuesday processing about 100 people arrested Monday night when police and protesters clashed at the park, about a mile from the site of the Democratic National Convention.

The confrontation erupted Monday as police in riot gear tried to disperse a crowd of about 300 people that was disrupting traffic near the Denver City and County Building.
